About bidar

Bidar city got its name from the word bidiru, which means bamboo. Bidar was earlier known for its bamboo clusters and was called Bidaroor, later Bidare and finally Bidar. Bidar, has a rich heritage and hence has a noteworthy place on the Archaeological map of India. Bidar is a hilltop city that is beautifully nestled in the center of the Deccan plateau. \n\nBidar tourism attracts a lot of national and international tourists, to explore its rich and diverse history. Built on the edge of the Deccan plateau, the ancient Bidar Fort attracts a lot of historians and archaeologists to dig the deep secrets of the decayed past. The Gurudwara of Nanak Jhira Saheb is said to be one of the holiest places for Sikhs in India, which is the reason why Sikh pilgrims across the globe visit this ancient and historic city. \n\nAbout 30 out of the 61 monuments in the state of Karnataka are located in or around the historic Bidar City. This perhaps is the reason why Bidar is symbolically described as The City of Whispering Monuments. Each ruined monument tells a fascinating story of the ancient past, do you have an ear for it?
