There are many stops along the route, so the journey itself can be long. While boarding a bus from Jhansi, one has to switch buses at Chhatarpur as there is no direct bus between Jhansi and Khajuraho. The entire journey takes around 6 hours. The journey from Satna to Khajuraho takes around 3 hours and 30 minutes. Khajuraho also has daily buses playing to Harpalpur, Chhatarpur, Mahoba, Sagar, Jabalpur, Bhopal, Indore, Gwalior, Panna, Agra, Allahabad, and Varanasi.
Journey Suggestion: Hiring a taxi or driving down to Khajuraho can be a much better option than catching a bus. Buses are often very crowded and they take a longer time to arrive at the destination as bus journeys include multiple stopvers along the way. Renting a car or hiring a taxi should be easy enough. The roads are in pretty good condition, and a private car would do away with the discomfort of crowded buses.
Khajuraho’s railway station is connected to Jhansi in Uttar Pradesh via the Delhi-Chennai/Bangalore/ Trivandrum route. There are regular trains to Delhi, Agra, and Varanasi. Khajuraho is also well connected to some of the main cities of Rajasthan via the Udaipur-Gwalior Express. Interestingly, tickets are not available at the Khajuraho railway station. Instead, they have to be bought at the bus station nearby. The next closest station to Khajuraho is in Satna at a distance of 117 km.
