Kolhapur Municipal Transport (KMT) operates a large number of buses in the area. They range from luxury buses, deluxe buses to ordinary buses. The city has three state transport bus stands: Central Bus Stand (CBS), Sambhajinagar Bus Stand and Rankala Bus Stand. CBS is the busiest bus terminal in western Maharashtra with more than 12,000 daily commuters.
Auto Rickshaws serve as the most popular mode of transport in Kolhapur. They are found everywhere in the city. There are also a number of cab companies like taxiGuide that have a fleet of cars for transportation within and outside Kolhapur.
There are quite a few car rental agencies in Kolhapur like Savaari and Clear Car Rental. While they do offer chauffeur-driven cars, you can opt to drive the car yourself if you’re aware of the roads and directions of the city.
There is currently no Metro Rail Service in Kolhapur.
The trains going through Chhatrapati Shahu Maharaj Terminus connect the city to all major cities in India. The ordinary passenger trains are the Kolhapur - Pune Passenger and the Kolhapur - Miraj Passenger. Trains are not used for local transport. Buses and auto rickshaws are the most common choices for getting around.
