Kollam has two major bus stations and one bus terminal within the city. The bus stations are the city bus station in Andamukkam and the KSRTC bus station in Cutchery. The bus terminal is in Tangasseri. Several city buses are plying the city at regular intervals. You'd be able to spot these busses easily as they are all blue in colour.
Taxis are available in Kollam and are a good way to get around the city. Some of the taxi service providers are Bhagavan Tours and Travels, Sivasailam Taxi, Kollam Taxi, Kunjumon, and Alex Varghese & Co. There are also plenty of auto rickshaws plying the city.
Car and bike rentals are available in Kollam. ‘Vinayak Rent A Car’, ‘Quilon Cars and Tours’, ‘Achus Rent A Car’ and ‘Grace Tours and Travels’ are some rental service providers.
Kollam has no metro services currently.
A proposal has been made by the Kerala Government and the Indian Railway to introduce a new suburban rail system in Kollam. The local train would take the Thiruvananthapuram - Kollam - Haripad/Chengannur route. Ten trains with seven bogies will transport passengers back and forth along the Trivandrum-Kollam-Chengannur-Harippad route.
There are places around Kollam that are good for trekking. The area around the Palaruvi waterfall and the Sankhili Forest are popular trekking areas too that you can stroll along and enjoy the natural picturesque scenery the city is replete with.
