There are daily buses that run all over the city and are an efficient and safe way of travelling around Kota and also to the neighbouring villages. RSRTC (Rajasthan Roadways) operates within the city and runs buses in and out of Kota as well.
Unmetered taxis, tempos, auto rickshaws and cycle rickshaws are a popular mode of transport within Kota. There are also a number of cab companies like Kotacab, Jeetu Travels and Kota Taxi Hire that have a fleet of cars for transportation within and outside Kota.
Car rental companies like Savaari and Kota Cab are also used in Kota. While they do offer chauffeur-driven cars, you can opt to drive the car yourself if you’re aware of the roads and directions of the city.
Kota does not have a Metro Rail system at present.
There are four railway stations in Kota and its surrounding areas. Trains are a good option for heading out of the city but for travelling within Kota – taxis, auto rickshaws and other means of local transportation are more practical.
The sights of Kota can be seen by foot. One can walk around to sample the famous Kachoris and shop for sarees and fabrics as well. The summers get very hot and the monsoons make walking around difficult – so local transportation is a better option during these months.
