Green-coloured city buses regularly ply within the city. Kozhikode’s local bus system is considered to be the best way to get around town. This is also a cheap mode of commuting within the city as buses charge a meagre Rs 7 for 5 km. Buses are usually punctual as they travel at tremendous speeds, which can be frightening, but are quite safe.
Taxis and auto rickshaws are available aplenty in Kozhikode. Auto rickshaws are a cheap way to get around the city. The drivers are quite trustworthy and do not overcharge. Local taxis are also a good way to commute within the city, although not as cheap as auto rickshaws or buses. Taxis do not run on metres and usually charge flat rates.

There is presently no metro plying Kozhikode, but plans to construct a metro network are underway.
There is no local train plying Kozhikode.
