Kurnool’s people follow one of the three religions, namely Christianity, Islam, or Hinduism. According to 2011 census, the city has a population of around 430,214. Over the years their traditions, customs and philosophies have become a fusion of those belonging to two or more of these religions and Buddhism, which was once popular in the region. Despite these amalgamations of customs and beliefs, most people in the city celebrate festivals that are unique to the religions they follow. Overall, the people of Kurnool are quite similar to others living in Andhra Pradesh. This similarity is quite evident in their spicy cuisine, which is largely the same as Andhra cuisine, with a few changes here and there.
