April and May are the summer months in Ladakh, with a temperature variation of about 5°C to 28°C. The days are pleasant during this time. However, there is a sharp drop in the temperatures at night, even during the summers. The months from June to September, experience the monsoon. Landslides and cloud bursts are the common calamities that might happen during this season. Winters are chilled and snowy. The temperature varies from -22°C to 7°C. November to February are the winter months. Usually people don’t prefer to travel Ladakh during this time, except a handful of hard-core trekkers. Most of the trekking routes get closed due to the heavy snowfall. Only Chadar-Trek, one of the most adventurous treks in the world, is conducted during the months of January until mid of March.
