Ludhiana is a dry district and witnesses extreme weather conditions. The climate of the district has been classified as tropical steppe, hot and semi-arid. The summers last from April to June, when temperature can reach as high as 45°C. The monsoons start in July and ends in September and the average rainfall is around 680 mm. During the post-monsoon months of October and November, the rainfall gradually decreases and so does the temperature. From December to March, Ludhiana experiences winter season, with an average temperature around 6°C and 20°C. The city also receives occasional rains during this season.
