Maximum number of flights to Mangalore operate from Bangalore and Mumbai. From Bangalore there are four to seven flights to Mangalore every day, whereas from Mumbai there are five to six.

There are numerous bus services from Mangalore to all the nearby towns in Karnataka and Kerala run by both the state government transport department (KSRTC) and numerous private companies like SRS, VRL, Durgamba Motors and others. The long distance buses ply to major cities like Bangalore, Mumbai, Hubli-Dharwar, Goa and Kerala. Even though the buses are operated by different private companies, the bus numbering scheme is unified and quite useful. However the destination and routes are all written in Kannada. The best way to use these busses is to check with the local people who are more than willing to help you. For the long distance bus service, the Karnataka state Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) buses are highly recommended because of its comfort and low fare.
Journey Suggestion: The highways leading to Mangalore are in good condition. There are hardly any issues affecting road travel, except for traffic during weekends.
Mangalore Central is located at Hampankata, in the heart of the city. It is a terminus and is used only by the trains which terminate at Mangalore. Most long distance trains interconnected with different cities stops here at Mangalore Junction. Some important trains like Yesvantpur-Karwar Express and KSR Bengaluru City-Kannur Express connect Mangalore with the city capital, Bangalore. From Mumbai, one can take Mumbai LTT-Mangaluru Jn to come to Mangalore.
