Mathura has both government as well as private buses that run throughout the city. Buses are an economical way to see the city but it is more convenient to take a regular tempos or an auto rickshaw. There are also buses travelling between Mathura and Vrindavan. These buses leave from the Old Bus Stand.
Mathura welcome a large number of tourists, hence there are numerous transport options like auto rickshaws, shared autos, cycle rickshaws and more. Private cab companies like Hire Me Car, Bharat Taxi and more are also widely used.
Car rental companies such as Clear Car Rental and Savaari are widely used in Mathura. Many companies provide chauffeur-driven cars. If one is familiar with the routes and roads of the city, then self-driven cars are a good option. There are also companies that offer bike rental services.
Mathura does not have a Metro Rail Service.
The Mathura Junction has 10 platforms and has connectivity with all the major cities of India. There are seven routes from this railway station. As Vrindavan doesn’t have its own railways station, this station is used for those travelling to and from Vrindavan as well.
The city of Mathura can be seen on foot. However, there are numerous temples and places of interest that are quite distant from each other and hence it is advisable to use rickshaws and taxis for sightseeing. Most hotels provide cabs for daily use.
