The art of painting is practised since the Bhonsle empire ruled here, the paintings depicted Hindu religious holy books and related literature in them. Due to the fertile soil and conducive climate, good quality cotton is produced and exported from here. Other than cotton, silk and woollen materials are also woven and sold for various types of garments use. \n\nState government organises Kalidas festival, a literary festival and the traditional local Hindu festival of Marbat are major attractions for everyone. The food cuisine here is called Varhadi or Saoji. The stress is on spicy food and curry based non-veg preparation in spices.
