NH 67 passes through Bandipur National Park, where you can observe animals such as elephants, deer and tigers in their natural habitat. It is advisable to drive slowly on this route, due to the presence of animals who might cross the road. Also, expect some traffic near Ooty especially on weekends, as it is a weekend getaway.
Udhagamandalam Railway Station is the chief railway station serving Ooty. It serves the Nilgiri Mountain Railway, a World Heritage Site. Trains are available from the towns of Coonoor and Mettupalayam. They pass through the majestic Nilgiri mountains. You can also reach Ooty from other cities such as Chennai, Bangalore, Mysore and Coimbatore, though there are no direct trains and you have to take another train from Mettupalayam Railway Station.
