Pathankot is located in the northern part of the state of Punjab in India. It is located at the confluence of three states, Punjab, Himachal Pradesh and Jammu & Kashmir. The area is also called as Cock’s Neck. The district is situated at an elevation of 331 m (1,086 ft.) and spans across an area of 929 km2 (359 sq. mi). Ravi, Beas and Chakki rivers surround the area. The Shivalik foothills lie to the south of the city and Himalayas to the north. The district shares borders with the Narowal District of Punjab in Pakistan. The land is undulating and the soil is coarse and stony.
