Bihar State Tourism Development Corporation provides tourist coach for local sightseeing. The corporation also operates some buses on a daily basis on certain routes. It has its own convoy of several buses. Some private firms along with the state government have started mini-bus services on some roads.
Three-wheelers (auto-rickshaws), known as 'Tempos' by the locals, are the main mode of conveyance in the city. Tourist taxis and buses are available to provide transport to the city from the airport, a distance of 7 km. Tempos are the most efficient means of transport as Patna is heavily populated and has narrow roads.
There are many rental agencies in Patna. Car rental agencies include Amba Travels, EazeeCab, Savaari, Clear Car Rental, Patna Taxi, etc.
Patna Metro, to be constructed by Patna Metro Rail Corporation, is a planned rapid transit system for the city. It would be owned and operated by state government. It will be constructed on Public Private Partnership (PPP) Mode. It will have 5 lines with a total planned length of 60 kilometres. Patna Monorail Project covering the municipal area is also underway.
Patna is well-connected with neighbouring Gaya, Jehanabad, Bihar Sharif, Rajgir, Islampur and others through daily passenger and express train services. Most of the railway stations within the city are inter-connected via local train services.
One can take a trek from the city to the more serene environs of Ganga ghat, located just a few kilometres away. The view of the mighty river, with Gandhi Setu Bridge in the background, is breathtaking. One can also take a walking trip to some of the important historical sites around the city like Patna Museum.
