Udupi has a good bus network, which connects the corners of the city as well as the other nearby areas within the region. These buses operate from the city bus stand and connect many areas within the city and the suburban areas. These are run by privately owned enterprises as well as the publicly owned state transportation corporation.
There are no major Radio or call Taxi cab services within Udupi and most of the services are run from Mangalore. However, the preferred mode of cab service within the city are auto rickshaws and can be easily availed for point to point travel.
Car rentals or bike rentals can be found within Udupi but will have to be negotiated with and booked on the ground rather than through the internet. Mangalore will have better options than Udupi regarding car rentals as it is a bigger city. It will also be your best bet if you are looking for self-driven rentals.
There are no metro services within Udupi
Udupi doesn’t have a local train network. However, there are many passenger and express trains with stops in and around the areas for connectivity to other small towns and important places within the district. This service can be availed to travel to points of interest around Udupi.
Udupi is surrounded by many natural formations such as water falls and as it is close to the Western Ghats, make an ideal site for trekking. One such place is the Kudumari falls which can be reached after a trek through a deep forest.
