About Golkonda Fort

Located just 11 km from Hyderabad City, Golconda Fort is one of the most historic and magnificent structures of the region and therefore, is a popular tourist attraction as well. The fort though originally built with mud was later enhanced to a grand construction with granite and stone walls- 8 mammoth gates, 87 bastions, and a circumference of over 7 km. One can only imagine the grandeur of this historic structure. One can observe the intricately designed palace, mosque, and armory of this fortress as well. One of the most significant and marvelous features of this fortress is the excellent acoustics of the structure. The Taramathi Gana and The Premathi Nritya Mandir, which are elaborate pavilions located just outside the walls of the fort are also popular attractions of the Golconda Fort. The Sound and Light Show at the Golconda Fort is also a major highlight, which brings the legends of the fort to life. The show is performed in different languages on different days. This is possibly the main thing that appeals to visitors. It is multi-lingo so that visitors from all parts of the world can partake in this wonderful experience.
