The fort that was once in shambles has only recently been restored to its former glory. Despite changing hands so many times, the fort still stands regal and the uniqueness of its stone wall construction tells a story of its past. The compact grounds nearing the fort walls once played host to wrestling matches, that were a source of entertainment back in its glory days. Located near the Siddheshwar Lake at the heart of Solapur, it stands next to an ancient and iconic Shiva temple that dates back many years. Coupled with the fort’s surrounding lush gardens, the scenic setting makes for an attractive picnic spot. A small animal park inside, housing several rabbits, ducks, peacocks and monkeys, amongst some other animals, make this old fort an ideal place for family outings.
