About Allahabad Jn Railway Station

One of the largest cities in Uttar Pradesh, Allahabad (originally known as Prayag), is home to the celebrated Triveni Sangam- a sacred river confluence of Ganga, Yamuna and the mythical Saraswati. Thousands come to take a holy dip at the Sangam every year. Opened in 1859, Allahabad Junction Railway Station is among the top hundred booking stations of Indian Railways. It also serves as the headquarters of the North Central Railway Zone (NCR). Ahead of the famous Kumbh Mela scheduled in 2019, the Allahabad division of NCR has recently begun making special arrangements in order to manage large crowds reaching Allahabad Junction. The facilities include installation of new elevators, CCTVs, barricading, watchtower and more ticket counters.

Allahabad Junction Railway Station is one of busiest stations in Uttar Pradesh, with a total of 10 platforms. While 190 trains halt here, 24 trains originate and 22 terminate at the station.

Trains to Top Pilgrimage Sites: With a total of 109 trains, Allahabad has good connectivity with Varanasi. At least 3 trains are available for Amritsar (Golden Temple), 1 for Vaishnodevi, 8 for Shirdi and 2 trains for Tirupati. On the other hand, there are 5 trains going to Haridwar, Rishikesh and Ajmer.

Trains to Metro Cities: As many as 53 trains link Allahabad to New Delhi. While 70 trains ply to Kanpur, 39 trains are linked to Lucknow. About 25 trains go till Kolkata. 27 trains go to Mumbai and 5 trains are operating for Chennai.
