Opened in 1862 as Bankipore Junction, Patna JN Railway Station is situated in the heart of the city and is the primary railway station serving the capital of Bihar. It falls under the Danapur division of the East Central Railway zone of the Indian Railways.
PNBE railway station has several facilities like mechanized cleaning, free Wi-Fi, automatic ticket vending machines, foreign tourist ticket counter, automated escalators, free RO mineral water, battery car for the handicapped and senior citizens, refreshment rooms, and Government Railway Police office.
