Upcoming International Events and Shows

International events and show activities are picking up hugely as a segment. Travelers over the world pick their choice of plays or concerts they’d like to be a part of and accordingly book their holidays. And little wonder, among things to do abroad, attending concerts, plays, or simply catching a football match, holds a special fascination for the young crowd. The birthplace of Jazz music, New Orleans in the state of Louisiana is particularly busy in February, the season for the famed Mardi Gras parade when the entire city decks up for the most colorful and exorbitant procession with masquerade balls being organized all over the city as musical events go on for the whole day on Bourbon Street. Experience the New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival at the Fair Grounds, sample regional specialties, pick up some oddball craft items, and regale yourself with the beats of soul-stirring Jazz, Rock, Caribbean, folk and African music.

Another city that celebrates music and culture is Brazil’s Rio de Janeiro. The Rio Carnival is one of the most sought-after events in world that takes place typically in early week of February before Lent, when Samba dancers throng the streets in their fineries and perform through them to the beats of the African drum. There are musical shows and stage performances organized in little pockets all across the city, and if you do not book ahead, you might not get a suitable accommodation. Be mindful about two million people are in attendance each day on the streets during the revelries. The face of cosmopolitan Spain, Barcelona with its Roman archaeological landmarks and works by Expressionist masters like Antonio Gaudi, also is a hub for some unique international events and show activities. From watching football matches at the Barcelona Camp Nou with the local Catalan folks and guzzling beer, to reserving your table for a stunning flamenco performance along La Rambla, there are no dearth of interesting events and shows in this vibrant Spanish city. You can also club your flamenco show with a sumptuous dinner of seafood specialties.

Activities abroad include a veritable assortment of stage plays in New York City’s popular theater district, Broadway. Broadway shows are a benchmark unto themselves, and every culture vulture visiting NYC has a reason to be here. The area between Theater District and Lincoln Center in Midtown Manhattan is home to 41 professional theaters where you can watch popular theatrical productions including musicals. But don’t we crave to be a part of the local events and activities scene even when we travel to a more offbeat destination? For instance, Cappadocia in central Turkey is gaining popularity for its themed cave hotels. The region known for its peculiar conical rock formations, some of which served as homes in the Bronze Age, has suddenly gained attention of travelers from the world over. Explore its unique rock face churches, watch the whirling dervishes of Rumi, the performance intrinsic to the Turkish culture, or go for a traditional belly dance show and cap it off with a delish barbecue dinner complimented by some local wine. International activities come in a huge bouquet, you only have to make your pick.
