Amazing International Outdoor Fun Activities

For the outdoorsy type, the world is their oyster, for there are so many outdoor activities around the world to pick from. If you are traveling outside your country, and wish to make the best of outdoor fun activities, you need to choose your destination accordingly depending on your character and personality. Those with a taste for the wildlife, shouldn’t think twice before paying their respects at one the world’s largest wildlife parks, the Kruger National Park in South Africa, home to the Big Five. Here opportunities for wildlife safari and bird watching abound. In an open-air 4X4 discover the sprawling landscape of Kruger, also one of Africa’s largest game reserves, and view animals in their natural habitat. For a typical jungle experience, opt to stay in a tented camp amid the jungle or book yourself at a safari lodge with all the modern-day trappings. Set out on a birding trail at the break of dawn with an expert guide in tow. Keep your lenses trained all the way. Another country offering you a brush with wildlife is the tropical paradise of Sri Lanka.

About 210 kilometers to the north east of Colombo lies the transit point for elephant safari, Habarana, where herds of wild elephants take you into the National Parks of Kaudulla and Minneriya. Hold on tight as the elephant navigates little creeks in this riverine terrain, wades to climb onto the bank and then crosses villages, swamps and jungles. The Pinnawala Elephant Orphanage is another place to view elephants in their natural environment. You can follow them down the river with their herd and watch them take a bath with their young ones. Plenty of mezzanine floor cafes in the vicinity where you can sit down to a local meal and watch the elephants. Among things to do abroad, Vancouver is an extremely outdoorsy destination serving up a host of international activities. If a driving holiday is your way of unwinding, Canada opens up a breathtaking landscape framed by the snow-capped Rockies, lush wildlife parks and a blue ocean. There are so many tiny villages on the outskirts of Vancouver that are postcard-perfect, you will chance upon sudden mountain streams, dense flora along the road, and innumerable little hotels where you can call it a day. If whale watching thrills you, drive all the way to the Straits of Georgia, nestled between Vancouver and Vancouver Island.

But if you are visiting Egypt, the mythical land of the pyramids, you must head straight to its capital city Cairo first, before making trips to Alexandria, Luxor and Hurghada. Dedicate a couple of days only to take in this unique landscape through which the Nile flows, tall swaying palms dot the banks, and ancient pyramids stand testimony to the mysterious world of the pharaohs. Aside from exploring the ancient pyramids in Giza and discovering how they came about 4000 years back, you can also browse the Egyptian Museum for its collection of royal mummies from King Tutankhamun’s time. Outdoor lovers can also consider visiting Cayman Islands in the western Caribbean Sea for swimming under the tropical sun, and snorkeling with schools of fish such as manta ray, stingrays and turtles. Head to the turtle farm, try water skiing, and if you have had enough of its aquamarine waters, take off on a jungle excursion into Little Cayman, home to a diversity of wildlife, and broaden your chances of spotting Iguanas, red-footed boobies, among a host of unique and rare bird species. But a fishing enthusiast shouldn’t miss a visit to Cayman Brac, a take off point for deep-sea fishing expeditions.
