Bali Ngurah Rai International Airport, also known as Denpasar Airport, is located in Tuban between Kuta and Jimbaran in South Bali. The airport is about 13 km south of Denpasar. It is named after Gusti Ngurah RaiT, a Balinese hero who died in November 1946 in a war to death against the Dutch. This airport is the third busiest international airport in Indonesia. It is capable of serving wide body aircrafts as well. Based on their services, the Airport Council International has awarded Bali Airport as the world’s third best airport in 2016.
Bali Ngurah Rai International Airport has two terminals; the International terminal and the Domestic terminal. There are 18 gates in the airport: 8 in the Domestic terminal and 10 in the International terminal. The latter has separate departure and arrival halls and has a capacity of 4,938,840 passengers annually. The new Domestic Terminal is in operation since September 2014 and can serve up to 9.4 million passengers in a year. The airport has served about 10,156,686 passengers in the first half of year 2017. It is assumed that this airport will reach 20 million passengers per annum in 2017 which is the maximum capacity of this airport. So, there is a plan of building another airport in North Bali which would share some of the traffic of this airport.

There are plenty of facilities available at the Bali Ngurah Rai International Airport for the convenience of passengers such as ATMs from different banks, money changing facilities, free Wi-Fi, information desk, and luggage storing facilities. Porters to carry your luggage are also present and they work on fixed rates
The International terminal has a number of lounges. Some of these also offer shower facilities, children’s play areas, and movie lounges. A spa and massage services are also available at the International terminal. The Domestic terminal also has a lounge but the terminal is closed at night.
The International terminal has a duty-free shop for the convenience of the passengers. There are many other shops such as book shops, boutiques, and mini markets that offer a range of things for you to buy.
There is a 24-hour café at the International terminal and a cheap eatery located at a small walking distance from the Domestic terminal, towards the parking lot.
Bali Airport Taxi also known as the Taksi Ngurah Rai is the only taxi service that is available at the airport. It has counters outside both the terminals and works on a prepaid system. These taxis have a fixed rate and do not have meters. Metered taxis are present outside the airport that run on meters. But they are not allowed to pick up passengers from the airport. Car Rental Services enable you to hire a car from these operators who can be found at both the terminals.
