Budapest Ferenc Liszt International Airport or Budapest Airport is located 16 km from the city center of Budapest and is the largest airport in Hungary. The construction of Budapest airport began in 1938, and in 2011, the airport was renamed after Franz Listz, the famous Hungarian composer. The airport is owned and operated by Budapest Airport Limited. It has been the busiest airport of Hungary in 2015, handling a passenger traffic of over 10 million. In 2016, the airport handled over 11 million passengers.

Terminals Trivia

Presently, there are 2 operating terminals- Terminal 2A and Terminal 2B. The Sky Court is a 5 level state-of-the-art building between Terminals 2A and 2B that handles security checks and has lounges and shopping areas. Terminal 2A handles flights to the Schengen area and Terminal 2B handles flights to the non-Schengen area of Europe. Low-cost airlines such as Wizz Air operate from Terminal 2B. Both the terminals have check-in halls and arrival halls. Earlier, there was another terminal, Terminal 1 that served low-cost carriers. The terminal is temporarily closed.
