Terminals Trivia

The Passenger Terminal Complex (PTC) is an interesting building with a magnificent roof that allows natural light to filter through. It consists of three buildings – the Main Terminal Building, the Satellite Building, and the Contact Pier. The passenger traffic reached a whopping 47 million in 2013, although it had been adversely affected by the SARS epidemic in 2003. It crossed 52 million in 2016. The main terminal is used by Malaysia Airlines for short-haul and medium-haul flights. The Contact Pier hosts both domestic and international flights. There is a small terminal named klia2, which is a low-cost carrier terminal.

Shop, Eat, and Relax

There are lots of places for enjoying a great meal at KLIA. There are food courts, fast food joints, bakeries and bistros, and restaurants. Some of the names include The Coffee Club, Taste of India, and McDonalds. KLIA is also a great place to indulge in retail therapy. There are also lots of duty-free retail outlets, as well as chic designer stores like Bally, Ralph Lauren, and Salvatore Ferragamo. There are other facilities in the airport, which include massage service, prayer rooms, children’s playing area, and many more.

Transport Facilities

KLIA is connected by Express Rail Link (ERL) to the KL Sentra transportation hub in the center of the city. The airport has two ERL stations – KLIA station at the main terminal building and klia2 station at klia2. The two rail services of the ERL are KLIA Ekspres and KLIA Transit.

Apart from rail, Airport Limo provides taxi and limousine services to passengers. The airport is also connected by several buses that carry people to their destinations in and out of Kuala Lumpur.
