Sir Seewoosagur Ramgoolam International Airport (MRU) is the main international airport serving the island of Mauritius. The airport is named after the first Prime Minister of the Republic of Mauritius. It was previously called as Plaisance Airport and has several flights to various destinations throughout the world. The airport is located around 40 km southeast of the capital, Port Louis, and 6 km from Mahébourg. Statistics of the airport for passenger traffic in the year 2016 has been 3,529,458 in comparison to 3,197,308 in 2015.

There is an information desk for taxis in the arrival section and it’s advisable to fix the price before taking a taxi. Car rental counters such as ABC, ADA, Avis, Budget, Europcar, First, and Hertz are also present in the Tour Operator Hall in Arrivals.
