Seoul International Airport, also known as Incheon International Airport, is the main airport in South Korea, and one of the busiest airports in the world. The airport is located on an artificial piece of land west of the Incheon city center. It is the hub for major airlines such as Air Incheon, Air Seoul, Asiana Airlines, and Korean Air. From 2005 to 2016, it received consecutive “Best Airport Worldwide” awards presented by Airports Council International. It has also been rated the world’s best transit airport from 2013 to 2016, and the world’s cleanest airport in 2015 by Skytrax. In 2015, Incheon International Airport clocked a passenger traffic of 49 million.

Terminals Trivia

Seoul Airport has a main passenger terminal, and a second terminal is slated to open in 2018. In addition, Incheon Airport has a Passenger Concourse that is connected to the main terminal via two underground passageways running in parallel. The passageways are equipped with intra-airport transits (IAT). The Concourse is primarily used by international airlines and has 30 boarding gates along with six passenger lounges.

The main terminal has 44 boarding gates, along with 252 check-in counters, eight arrival security and 28 departure security ports. In addition, there are 120 each of arrival and departure passport inspection counters. The terminal also boasts of an automatic check-in counter lane for passengers of Korean Air, Asiana Airlines, and China Southern Airlines.

A wide range of duty-free shops are available at the Seoul Airport. Hermes, Givenchy, Tumi, Prada, Bulgari, Bally, and Rolex are some of the renowned brands that you can explore. You can select from a range of fast food joints, and specialized restaurants serving Korean, and Chinese cuisine.

The airport has internet hubs for conducting business, as well as a range of leisure options for passengers, including showers and rest zones. Transport Facilities

Airport Express or AREX trains run from the airport Railroad Station to the Seoul city center. They take less than an hour. You can also avail the Korea Train Express or KTX that operate 20 times per day from Incheon Airport. Currently, the Maglev covers a distance of 6.1 km towards the southwest and covers six stations. The Airport buses, known as Limousine buses, connect Incheon Airport to Gimpo Airport and Songjeong Station. You can also avail other bus services, both short and long distance, that connect Incheon Airport to different destinations; Seoul and other cities of South Korea. You can hire normal taxis that are orange and white in color. Deluxe taxis are also available (colored black with a gold stripe), but these are quite expensive.
