Vienna International Airport was built in 1938, which was first used as a military base and is 18 km southeast of Vienna. It has two runways measuring 3,500 m and 3,600 m in length, respectively. It is the home base for Austrian Airlines with a total of 70 aircrafts that include 7 Airbus A319-100, 3 Airbus A321-100, 16 Airbus A320-200, 3 Airbus A321-200, 5 Boeing 777-200ER, 6 Boeing 767-300ER, 18 Bombardier Dash 8 Q400, 15 Fokker 100, and 6 Fokker 70.

Terminals Trivia

Flughafen Wien AG owns and operates the 4 terminals – Terminal 1, 2, 3, and Terminal 1A at Vienna Airport. To assist the passengers, two information desks in Terminal 1, Terminal 3, and one information desk at the central arrival hall are available. There are proposals to extend the runways and terminals to accommodate the Airbus A380.

Wien-Mitte City Air Terminal has 10 check-in counters providing the functions of an international airport. There are 128 check-in counters and all the gates are within a short distance from the terminal zone.
