Chennai to Dubai Flights - From One Business Hub to the Other

The Indian aviation industry which is the the third largest civil aviation market in the world has a fascinating history which began in February 1911 with the first commercial flight from Allahabad to Naini, distance of approximately ten kilometres. It was a Humber biplane which had a structure built with mixed steel and wood and was flown by Henri Pequet and carried 6,500 letters. This flight is regarded as the world’s first official airmail service. The next red letter day for Indian aviation was 15th February, 1932 when J.R.D Tata who is considered as the father of Indian Civil Aviation flew a mail consignment from Karachi to Juhu airport. J.R.D Tata who got the first pilot license issued in India went on to found India’s first commercial airline, Tata Airlines which went on to become Air India in 1946.

Another significant development in the history of the Indian aviation industry was opening up of the Indian skies to the private sector in the year 1991. The aviation industry had been nationalised earlier in 1953 by merging together the string of airlines that existed at that time. After the de-regularization of the civil aviation industry, there has been no looking back and the industry has grown phenomenally. Today whether one is thinking of a domestic or international flight there are multiple options available to the customer to choose from.

Ground staff in Dubai are not friendly or rather they were pretty rude. Duty free purchase was added in cabin baggage weight and I was charged for excess baggage though it is not mentioned so in their baggage allowance. My seat numbers were changed without my consent and I was told about this only during check-in. Food was pathetic and in the return flight from Dubai to Chennai, we were not given non-vegetarian food though we had asked for the same while the tickets were booked. Over all I will hesitate a lot to travel by Emirates Airlines in the future.

onward journey : I have booked my ticket in business class at an exorbiant price due to Eid holidays. the seat 3f had no control on reclining position . the switch was not working. I wonder how an airline can skip checking these basics which also affects the safety of the passenger. return journey: I had to wait for more than 45 minutes for check in. you can blame the system but the ground staff is also equally unprofessional and not trained to handle a situation. Maharaja lounge is tiny and have only very limited food options. baggage claiming: the priority handling tag is a joke, I got my luggage after 45 minutes of waiting overall a very bad trip :((

Worst flight experience. Domestic flight in international route. They would not even allow to buy food with indian currency, though the flight was from India. That was ridiculous. they would not accept indian money, not even dollars with higher denomination. Would never travel by Indigo ever again, unless they improve their standard.
