Last but not the least, explore the mysterious village of Dargavs, also known as the ‘City of the Dead’. Tucked away in the Caucasus Mountains, this village is full of ancient crypts and tombs. There are many myths about this place, one being that nobody comes back after visiting this location. Another interesting fact is that the people who lived here buried their loved ones inside wooden structures, which resemble boats for reasons that have been lost in the passage of time.
Eating out in Russia
Russian food is diverse and rich. Russian specialties include Pelmeni (meat dumplings), Blini (buckwheat pancakes), Piroshki (buns), Golubtsy (cabbage rolls), and Olivier (Russian version of potato salad). Moscow and St. Petersburg offer world-class dining and a wide variety of international cuisines like Tibetan, Chinese, and Italian. In Russia, vodka and local drinks (Baikal, Buratino, Tarhun, and so on) are very famous.
Shopping in Russia
When in Russia, you can shop for beautiful hand-painted pins or lacquer boxes. You can get them in the villages of Mstera, Palekh, Fedoskino, and Kholui. Another must-buy item is the Matryoshka, a set of hand-painted wooden dolls. The other interesting things are Amber (fossilized tree resin), shawls and scarves from Pavlovo Posad, and the traditional Russian craft called Khokhloma.
