Mumbai to Dubai Flights − From One Dream City to the Other

Mumbai to Dubai flights
There are plenty of airlines both domestic and international serving the two cities at an aerial distance of 1927 kilometre of each other. Some of India’s popular domestic carriers like IndiGo, SpiceJet, Vistara aside from the national carrier Air India and its subsidiary, the Air India Express have non-stop flights between Mumbai’s Chhatrapati Shivaji International Airport and the Dubai International Airport. Emirates with its hub in Dubai is a reputed international airline with direct flights to Dubai from Mumbai. A non-stop flights takes an average of 3.5 hours from one airport to the other. The cost of a ticket aboard Emirates can be marginally higher than a domestic operator like IndiGo, Vistara or SpiceJet, Air India and Air India Express. All of this is, however, subject to availability and how early you are making your booking. With a hub at the Dubai International Airport, Flydubai is another airline with non-stop flights from Mumbai. Some of the other airlines with connecting flights from Mumbai to Dubai include Jazeera Airways, Kuwait Airways, Gulf Air, Ethiopian Airlines, SriLankan Airlines, Saudi Arabian Airlines, Air Mauritius and Turkish Airlines among others. Most of these flights have a layover or two with the travel time extending from 5 to 18 hours depending on the hub airport and the route.

International flights from Mumbai to Dubai

Air India, Air India Express, SpiceJet, IndiGo and Vistara have direct flights from Mumbai to Dubai, and among international airlines the route is served with a non-stop connectivity by Emirates and Flydubai. In order to book a flight for cheap and to bag an airlines of your choice you need to close your booking about 2-3 months prior to your departure date. The non-stop flights to Dubai are available through the day beginning with one at 08:30 am aboard IndiGo Airlines bringing you into Dubai in 3.5 hours. Air India Express has a flight leaving at 01:10 pm from the Chhatrapati Shivaji International Airport and arriving into the Dubai International Airport at 03:10 pm. IndiGo also has flights at 06:20 pm including flights by Emirates at 03:30 pm each taking approximately 3.5 hours to fly non-stop from Mumbai to Dubai. You can board a Flydubai flight at 05:05 am and arrive in Dubai in exactly 3.5 hours. Or fly the Vistara Airlines to reach Dubai in 3 hours and 20 minutes starting from Mumbai at 04:25 pm. A one-way ticket aboard a domestic carrier can cost under INR 10,000 provided you make your bookings at least a couple of months ahead, while an Emirates flight can cost you up to INR 12,000 for a one-way fare. Air India Express fares are among the lowest on the route costing between INR 8000 and INR 9500, depending on how early you have made the booking and the season booked for. Connecting airlines like Oman Air takes off at 10:30 am from Chhatrapati Shivaji International Airport and arrives into Muscat after 3 hours of non-stop flying, and post a layover of 2.5 hours, it leaves Muscat to arrive into Dubai after 1 hour and 15 minutes. The total journey time is 6 hours and 35 minutes with the ride costing as much as one on a domestic carrier. Airlines like Air Arabia takes off from Mumbai and lands directly in the neighbouring Sharjah in 3 hours and 10 minutes. For other connecting international flights Etihad Airways has flights to Dubai with a layover of 1 hour in Abu Dhabi. Gulf Air makes a halt in Muscat before carrying on the last leg of journey to Dubai in a total of 7 hours and 10 minutes. SriLankan Airlines takes approximately 14 hours to get you to Dubai after a halt in Colombo.

Dubai has two international airports, the Dubai International Airport where flights from Mumbai majorly land, and the Al Maktoum International Airport also called Dubai World Central.

How to bag a cheap flight from Mumbai to Dubai
- To get a fare cheaper than the average, make your booking about 90 days in advance.
- February by far is the cheapest month to fly to Dubai. Avoid the peak tourist months of April, May and June for hike in airfares.
- To get low airfares, if nothing else, try to close your booking at least 3 weeks prior to your date of journey.
- Try to get yourself a morning departure as they are found to be about 12% cheaper than evening and late night ones.

Facilities at the Mumbai and Dubai airports

Child care room : Both Terminals 1 and 2 of the Chhatrapati Shivaji International Airport, there are diaper changing and baby nursing rooms. The Dubai International Airport has baby care rooms where you can attend to them and even nurse them in complete privacy.

Baby strollers and other services for kids : Baby strollers are offered to passengers with toddlers and young children at the Terminal 1B and 2 of the Mumbai airport. Also unaccompanied minors until the age of 12 are provided with requisite assistance. Additionally, there is a child’s play area too in the Terminal 2 and Level 3.

Medical care facility : The Chhatrapati Shivaji International Airport has round the clock medical care service at its Terminals 1B and 2. The Dubai International Airport Medical Centre, a unit of the Dubai Health Authority has its centres across Terminals 1 and 3 with both curative and preventive health care programmes. In addition to this, there is emergency medical services as well at the Dubai airport.

Banks and ATMs : The arrival and departure terminals of the Mumbai airport has ATMs by State Bank of India, Induslnd Bank and Citibank. Terminal 1C has one by Kotak Mahindra. Apart from that there are currency exchange booths too. There are ATMs across the various terminals of the Dubai International Airport aside from foreign currency exchange services provided by Travelex.

Business centre : You can use the meeting rooms, the internet among other conference and office services at the business centre of the Dubai International Hotel.

Relaxation and spa : The Dubai International Airport has complimentary shower facilities at its Terminal 3. This includes the shower facility at the spa by Gate A1 of Terminal 3. Aside from the dedicated lounges of the airline, you can relax at the Marhaba Lounge as you await your flight. The specially equipped health club of the Dubai airport lets you swim, use the Jacuzzi, the sauna room and play billiards too. From a relaxing head massage to everyday salon services, the on-site spa is a good bet in case you need to arrive well-tended.

Arriving at the Chhatrapati Shivaji International Airport
Those wishing to take the local train to the Chhatrapati Shivaji International Airport need to de-board at the Andheri (East) Railway Station since it is the closest to the airport. The subsequent 5 kilometres to the airport can be covered by taxi in 15 to 20 minutes. While you always have the option of taking a private taxi, you can save more time by taking the bus route. The Brihanmumbai Electric Supply and Transport (or BEST) is regarded as one of the best ways to get to the Mumbai international airport. Hop on to a bus to either Vile Parle East or the Andheri (East) Railway Station, and then cover the remaining distance by taxi.

Getting into the Dubai city centre
You can get to your Dubai hotel from the airport even if you arrive at the city late in the night. Simply pick the bus pertaining to your district and it costs no more than a dollar unless your hotel is not in the city centre and is located remotely and you might have to end up paying probably double or triple the sum. These shuttle buses are air-conditioned with comfortable seating and ply every 7 minutes in the day and every 20 minutes in the night. It can take you an hour and upwards depending on the traffic to get you to your hotel in downtown Dubai. With a 40-minute plus run, the Dubai Airport Metro promises a faster journey. You need to use the red line to get to the city centre from the airport and your fare will depend on the number of zones you pass. Costing roughly $2 per passenger, you will end up crossing an average of 3 to 4 zones. While the airport metro might not be available at night, in the daytime the service is pretty frequent. You can also avail the Dubai Airport transfer and taxi services. The duration of such a ride is about 45 minutes and a one-way trip can cost you to the tune of $42. For bigger groups and those travelling with kids, this mode is highly recommended. Not to mention, you have the choice of renting a car at the Dubai airport on producing your passport and an International Driver’s Licence (IDL). Most cars are automated and includes insurance.
