Officially known as the Republic of Seychelles, it is a country in the Indian Ocean, located 1500 kilometers off East Africa. Seafood is the primary attraction of Seychelles cuisine. Interesting variations include Shark chutney and turtle meat. Rice is the staple grain, with breadfruit being its substitute. Their platter also includes a range of fresh fruits and vegetables and some edible flowers. Being a beach country, the flavor of coconut is prominent in the food and drinks. The preparations vary from being spicy to mildly spiced and sweet.
