Itinerary - Ex Delhi
Date: 13th to 19th Jan 2019 (6 Nights/7 Days)
Day 1 - Gurgaon - Mandawa

We head out for Jhunjhunu from Gurgaon in Delhi NCR. As we drive through the winter countryside, be ready for impromptu shoots. We visit Surajgarh en route. On arrival in Jhunjhunu we shoot a rather uniquely designed temple built in the form of a haveli. The colours, the form and the varied design elements make it a highlight. Then we hop across to a newly built haveli with fresh frescos. As a counterpoint we visit an old, classical haveli with peeling art, one that reveals stories of a time when these towns played an important part in the trade routes before the sea routes altered their fate. Of a time before the celebrated merchant families (read the Birlas, the Poddars, the Singhanias) of Shekhawati set out to seek newer pastures in India’s port cities.

Overnight at Mandawa.

DAY 2 - Mandawa

Mandawa is at the heart of Rajasthan’s famous Shekhawati region. Mandawa is a veritable open air museum. A place which inspires visual artists! We shoot architecture, frescos and street life along routes that were once part of the fabled Silk Route – where caravans stopped on their way to trade in distant lands! On our fresco trail we make pit stops at Goenka Double Haveli, Mohanlal Saraf Haveli and the Chowkhani.

We also visit Nawalgarh to shoot the famous Poddar Haveli and Morarka Haveli Museum.

Overnight at Mandawa.

DAY 3 - Mandawa - Khichan

After breakfast we head out to Khichan. A birder’s haven, this little known village in Rajasthan has become a hub for birding enthusiasts who come to study the demoiselle cranes. The remote village offers a great opportunity to shoot birds in flight, their feeding process et al in a small area. We catch the birding action in evening light.

Overnight at Khichan.

DAY 4 - Khichan

We begin the day early to catch up with the demoiselle cranes and other birds. Enjoy this unique experience of shooting in a place that has come up due to efforts of a few enterprising villagers who are ecologists and environmentalists rolled into one.

Post lunch, gear up for an extensive street, portrait and architectural shoot sessions at vantage locations of this amazing village.

Overnight at Khichan.

DAY 5 - Khichan - Jodhpur

We head out for Jodhpur through some of the finest dunes in the Thar Desert via Osian. An extensive photo session followed by lunch awaits participants at a desert resort. Later that evening we’ll have an indoor critic session to analyse the photography efforts of each guests at Jodhpur.

Overnight at Jodhpur.

DAY 6 - Jodhpur

After an early breakfast, we head out for a photo-walk through the streets of the Blue City that sets the ball rolling for an enthralling day’s photography. Major conservation efforts are turning the old town into an attractive spot for travelers and offer great opportunities for photography. Thereafter, we head out to Mehrangarh Fort. Built in 1460 by Roa Jodha, this imposing fort on a hill houses well-preserved cannons, exquisite stain glass rooms; massive courtyards besides the sprawling ramparts of the fort make it a photographer’s delight.

Overnight at Jodhpur.
